We are delighted to announce our sponsor for this event:
Our trials this year were all successful, further enhancing our reputation for putting on good, well run and enjoyable Trials catering for all bikes and abilities.
Since starting from scratch three years ago we are now beginning to establish a position for Trials in our Club and generally in the Scottish Trials scene. We held nine Trials in 2021 most of which were on new ground. Two of these were rounds 4 and 6 of the SACU Classic Trials championship. In July we introduced a new venue based in the picturesque village of Moniaive and one we intend making an annual event as our Three Glens Two Day Trial.
From May to August inclusive we ran a Midweek Summer Series held on one Thursday night each month with the aims to encourage beginners to come and have a go and more experienced riders to hone their skills in a competitive Trial situation. This will be run again in 2022.
At all of these Trials our sections were set out to be Pre’65 and Twin-shock friendly and where possible we offered three routes, ‘A’ Route – Yellow for Experts, ‘B’ Route – Blue for Clubman and ‘C’ Route – Green for Novices and Beginners.
After the disruption caused by Covid-19 we were finally able to introduce a Club Members Championship for 2021. The results are published separately in this section.
2021 couldn’t have been successful without the following and we wish to publish our gratitude and thanks;.
Our Observers. We have recruited, trained and developed a team of volunteers who are a fine group with an excellent commitment to the success of our Trials
Our ‘Trials Section’ committee who without their fantastic experience and commitment we just could not put on our Trials.
Our Landowners whose co-operation, willingness to help and generosity in allowing land use has been very much appreciated.
Finally, thank you to everyone including members and riders who contributed to our year.
Congratulations to Craig Turpie
Club member Craig has achieved an amazing feat. At 18 years old and competing with more mature and experienced riders Craig has been crowned the SACU Classic Trials Twin-shock ‘A’ experts Trials champion 2021. Interestingly Craig won the Championship riding an ‘unmolested’ Montesa Cota 247 that has been in the Turpie family for many years having been ridden by his grandfather and father.
Well done Craig it’s good to have another Scottish Champion in The Galloway Motorcycle Club and a first for Trials.
Tribute to Peter Valente
We are pleased to announce The Galloway Motorcycle Club
will name one of their Trials next year - The Peter Valente
Memorial Trial - as a tribute to him.
The actual Trial is still to be determined as we await confirmation
of our proposed 2022 Trial dates by the SACU.
This will be an annual event and a Trophy will be presented to
Over the years Peter became a well-known and respected Trials
Rider on the Scottish Scene and unfortunately passed whist competing in a Trial earlier in the year.
As well as one of the very first stalwarts in helping our ‘Trials Section’ get started Peter, a true gentleman who travelled all the way down from his home in Edinburgh really liked what our club was about and helped by marshalling at Drumlanrig, by being a Clerk of the Course at a Wallaceton Trial and was an enthusiastic rider in our Road Runs.
2022... Another busy year ahead
At this year’s SACU 2022 Trials dates meeting The Galloway Motorcycling Club have achieved agreement on dates.
As always we look forward to welcoming all bikes and abilities
Actual locations are still subject to final confirmation but will be advised nearer the actual date.
